Public examinations and snow

In keeping with examination boards advice, the examination timetable will run as scheduled and we  will continue to ensure that students can take their public examinations as normal.  If a student is unable to reach school because of the weather, the boards have said that no special consideration will be given.  If a student cannot attend a public examination they should telephone school and speak to a member of staff. Since the majority of examinations are now modular, such students will be able to take the examination in the summer series but will need to apply to do so through the Examinations Office. The students taking modules for which there are no further opportunities to be examined are already aware that this is the case.

Our policy is to remain open in the event of snowfall and to continue to provide a worthwhile educational experience for all pupils able to reach school safely. Jointly with Nottingham High School, we maintain contact with the bus companies who will decide whether buses need to leave earlier than usual. Similarly, we ask parents to exercise their judgement about whether it is safe for their daughter to travel to and from home in inclement weather. Updates will be posted on the website and left on the school information hotline number which is 0115 935 4539.
